A few weeks ago, my Kylo, was diagnosed with aspirated pneumonia. Very scary and very serious. He did well with recovery at home for a couple of weeks but unfortunately, has gotten it again. Yesterday morning around 530AM, I woke up to Kylo panting and immediately knew he needed to be seen. We got to the vet and quickly got labs and X-rays done. The x-rays showed that he, indeed, had aspirated pneumonia again but his lungs looked a bit worse this time. Due to Kylo being a brachiocephalic breed, he was intubated and shortly after this, they performed a tracheotomy. His vet recommended that once he is over the pneumonia and stable enough, they want to proceed with a soft palate surgery. This surgery will open up his airway in order to help him breathe better. As of now, the trach has helped him exceptionally and now our main goal is to get him over the pneumonia and home!
