Hello loved ones of Josiah,
Thank you for all your continued support and well wishes, and thank you for considering a donation to help get this wonderful human back on his feet.
Josiah recently suffered a severe head injury that has profoundly impacted his life and the lives of those he loves.
On Sunday, August 18, 2024, Josiah experienced an accident that resulted in severe head trauma. An ambulance was called and he was rushed to Peace Island Medical Center in Friday Harbor. After consultation, and assessing a brain bleed, he was emergency air lifted to Harbor View Hospital in Seattle, WA. Once in Seattle he underwent an emergency craniectomy to address his critical injuries. Thankfully, the surgery went well, and all things considered, he has been making a remarkable recovery. Josiah will be needing another surgery in a month to put a portion of his skull back. The road to recovery is long, but we are happy to report he is bouncing back exceptionally well.
We have created this GoFundMe in the hopes of helping with the financial burdens that will follow this medical procedure. Aside from the many hospital bills, Josiah will be unable to work for an undetermined amount of time. His loving partner Miriam has not left his side since the incident. Neither Josiah or Miriam live in Seattle, so we are seeking funding to provide them with interim housing to stay close to the hospital until the next procedure. Josiah has an amazing 11 year-old son, Elliott, who he provides for as well.
To know Josiah is to love him. He is a friend to all and an absolute joy to be around. It’s impossible to not be smiling in his presence. Many island folk know him as the exuberant bartender at both Cease and Desist and San Juan Island Brewing Company. Josiah has spent his last four years traveling between San Juan Island, Norway and Hawaii. Brightening lives around him along the way. Many of you may know him from his time living in Portland, or from his childhood in California.
Any contribution, no matter how small, will help alleviate some of the financial strain during this incredibly difficult time.
