I'm Anna and I'm raising funds to grant my brother's final wish and to bring awareness to mental health challenges and suicide prevention. To do this, I need to go to Japan with Jonah's ashes, travel by motorcycle around the country, and share this journey and Jonah's story with others in any way I can. I'll document my journey on social media. Jonah would have loved this, and his story needs to be told.
Before he died, Jonah and I were planning to go to Japan. He couldn't hold on. I want to bring him there now.
Jonah was the sweetest, most sensitive, loving person! He was a free spirit who cared for and accepted everybody. He loved music and, as a teen, helped organize shows. As an adult, he became fascinated with the workings of politics and current events. He was the fun uncle to his nephews and nieces, who adored spending time with him. He was close with our parents, who were a part of his daily life. He immersed himself in everything that was Japanese culture: anime, food, tattoos, customs, and history. He loved his family and his crazy cats. He just couldn't love himself.
Jonah had a long struggle with depression and addiction as an adult. He passed after taking his own life in 2020 at the age of 32. He didn't want a funeral of any sort, but in a letter, he asked that his ashes be brought to Japan. Due to the logistics and expense, we have been unable to do this yet.
Help me with the expenses of this journey so that Jonah can be honored, we, as his family, can have closure, and to help bring awareness and remove stigma from talking about mental health.
