In the name of God the Most Gracious the Most Merciful
On December 4th, 2024, our father, John 'Yahyah' Cason, was scheduled for an operation to remove a potentially fatal aneurysm near his temple. Alhamdulillah (All praise be to God), the surgery went well, and he was conscious soon after. He was kept for further testing and monitoring, which included a full MRI scan. The scan discovered a second, even more fatal aneurysm stemming from a major artery leading to his large intestine. After several days of testing and monitoring, the medical team decided the best course of action was bypass surgery.
On December 18th the second surgery appeared successful, but there were several near-fatal complications that put him in critical condition. Consequently he underwent 7 life saving surgeries. Surgeons unfortunately discovered major organs died and needed to be removed. He remained sedated under critical condition ; and unaware of all the surgeries that occurred until he was fully awake on January 10th.
Once awake he received the very unexpected news of his new medical state, where he realized life would not be the same going forward. Inshallah (If God wills) once released from the hospital, he will require care in home care. Before returning home, the home will need added handicapped supports. He will be bound to his home for several months; however, he will still have the weight and responsibility of caring for his family. John 'Yahyah' Cason, a 71 year old father to 15 children, 8 of whom are still under his care, along with his wife, Viola Cason. He is the sole provider for his family, and as a self-employed man, he looked forward to returning to work as soon as medically possible, which was assumed to be a 6-to-8-week recovery. As of March 22nd 2025, he is still recovering in the hospital, and expected to remain home for a minimum recovery time of 6 months.
Several of his adult children have come together to provide as much support as we are capable of handling. We realize the magnitude of this undertaking is beyond our collective financial means. We are humbly and respectfully asking the greater community to help us support our father in his time of vulnerability. Please help us ease some of his financial strain so he can recover peacefully. This will allow his wife, Viola Cason, to fully give her attention and care to him. We are still looking into other possible solutions, but we do know the financial burden will be heavy.
If you are unable to financially contribute, please share this GoFundMe and keep our father, John 'Yahyah' Cason, in your prayers. May Allah (God) reward your intentions.
