Support Jenny's Battle with Breast Cancer

I'm Kristin Howatt and I'm starting this GoFundMe for Jenny McNattin.

Our good friend Jenny was recently diagnosed with Invasive Duct Carcinoma in her left breast. Because of Jenny's family history (her sister and mother both had breast cancer), her doctors recommend a double mastectomy with reconstruction due to her chances of recurrence. Her surgery is scheduled for April 3rd. The surgery alone will take 4-6 weeks of recovery, followed by a few years of oral chemotherapy. She won't know if she needs radiation until after her procedure when they will test the tumor and her lymph nodes.

She will need to have weekly check-ups with her care team and plastic surgeon to look out for infection.

Jenny is considered self-employed as her pay is 100% commission. Even though her diagnosis was terrifying, her first concern was her daughters, Franny and Carly, and the home they live in with Jenny. She wants the girls to get through this time with the least amount of worry as possible.

Jenny's medical bills are already stacking up and losing work will make it next to impossible to keep up. Her prescription meds alone will be a huge financial burden. Her risk for infection during the months ahead will likely cause her to lose even more work without any disability or paid sick leave.

Jenny is a helper. You will often see her volunteering at the girls' schools and sports events, as well as helping her friends in need. I was one of the friends that Jenny helped when I needed it the most, which is why I convinced her to let me start this fundraiser. She does not like to ask for help, and this took some convincing, but this is just one way I could think of that might ease her mind just a tiny bit during the difficult, long road ahead. A little something we can do to help her get to the other side of this.

Please know that Jenny has zero expectations from this fundraiser and that she would much rather be working. She's planning on doing that as soon as possible. This fundraiser will help with medical bills and her time off from work for recovery and medical appointments in the coming months.
