Support Ion’s kidney transplant journey

Our miracle is here! 

Ion received a new kidney on the evening of Sunday November 12, 2023! 

He is doing well and in recovery. We know that many of you have prayed and supported us for the last 2 years through kidney failure and dialysis to which we are so beyond thankful. 

The road to recovery post-transplant will still have many challenges over the next 6-12 months. The post-transplant care team requires that we remain close to the hospital which means our home in Wetaskiwin is too far away. We will be renting a secondary home for three months across from the hospital, as he will have daily appointments to attend. Chrisandra will also be taking some time off work to support Ion while he is unable to drive (approximately 6 weeks). 

With all the extra expenses, we are humbly reaching to our friends and family for support. There are many things we need right now, finances, prayers, meals, gas, coffee, etc. If you are able to help with any of these things, we would be so incredibly thankful. 

Reaching out for support is not something that is easy for us, but we know the only way forward is to accept the love and kindness from all our people. 

We acknowledge that our miracle has come at a great price and grief for another family.

Due to the deceased organ donor,

 life springs from death, 

sorrow turns to hope, 

and a terrible loss becomes a gift. 

We are so incredibly thankful for their sacrifice. 

Ion is severely immunocompromised and recovering from major surgery, therefore visiting limited at this time. Once he is a bit further down the recovery road, we will update you and invite you to come and say hi if you’d like.
