Dear friends,
I am setting up this GoFundMe for my sweet friend Sarah and her family. They have welcomed their beautiful baby boy, “Kenneth James Stevens”, earlier this week. Though he is doing well overall, he does require specialized NICU care at this time.
They are grateful for the incredible medical team caring for him, yet the financial strain of this unexpected journey has placed an overwhelming burden on the new family.
The Situation:
Jer, the family's provider, receives only 60% of his paycheck during paternity leave. While his employer supplements it to 80%, it still isn’t enough to cover their household expenses—especially since Sarah had to stop working at 30 weeks due to heart complications. The savings they had built as a buffer had been quickly depleted with the required medical care Sarah needed during pregnancy, leaving them living paycheck to paycheck.
Jer has this week off, but if Kenny’s NICU stay extends beyond Thursday, Sarah will be staying at the Ronald McDonald House so she can continue receiving care while Kenny fights to grow stronger in the NICU in Rochester U of R.
If Kenny remains in the NICU past Monday, Sarah’s mom will stay with her at Ronald McDonald House while Jer returns home to work—because on one income, they cannot afford not to have Jer work.
How You Can Help?
I am humbly asking for support to help cover their:
- Lodging and travel costs while they remain close to Kenny
- Medical expenses related to Kenny and Sarah’s stay
- Household bills to keep their home stable
- Essential care needs for both Kenny and Sarah as she recovers
- Above all this will help support more time off for Jer to be with his family during this time
No parent should have to worry about financials during a time like this.
Every donation, no matter the size, will help ease the financial stress, and allow the new family to focus on Kenny’s health and well-being.
If you are unable to contribute financially, sharing their story and keeping them in your thoughts and prayers means the world to them.
Thank you for being part of their journey and helping them give Kenny the best possible start in life.
