The Donald McKay K-8 School is a Boston Public School serving over 750 students in East Boston, MA. We pride ourselves on being a welcoming community that embraces the uniqueness of every child. We are committed to our students and their families and we hope that you will join us in supporting them this holiday season.
Like many other schools, our amazing students have been learning remotely since March. In this remote learning environment, they have continued to embrace our school values of kindness, respect, effort, and responsibility. They are incredible young people who surprise us every day with their compassion, humor, and desire to learn.
Our close-knit community in East Boston has been one of the Boston neighborhoods most affected by COVID-19. Recently, the positivity rate has been consistently over 12%. Many of our families and neighbors have been impacted by the loss of income, food insecurity, and the possibility of being evicted.
Despite the challenges of this year, our students, families, and staff continue to persevere. As we approach the end of 2020, we ask for your help in supporting our McKay community. Your generous contribution will go directly towards supporting our families and could provide:
$25: hat and gloves for a student
$50: a winter coat or household cleaning supplies
$100: a family’s groceries for one week
$400: a family’s groceries for one month
