Support Florentino Guerrero's Kidney Transplant Recovery

Hi everyone, my name is Florentino Guerrero. I am 45-years old, and for the past 20-years I have been a high school teacher and cross country and track coach in East Texas. I am also a devout Catholic and very active member of my local parish and community.

I am married to an extremely supportive and loving wife, Veronica for 18 years, and together we have two great kids.

Thirteen years ago I was diagnosed with a rare genetic kidney disease, which only affects between 0.2% and 2.5% of the US population, called C1Q Neuropathy, in which a large amount of protein is lost in the urine.

Since that time, my kidneys have deteriorated to the point, where I was going to need to start dialysis ASAP.

I had been on the kidney donation transplant waitlist for the last 2-years, and with no donor in sight, I was set to start receiving dialysis treatment this Summer.

Thankfully, I felt like I won the jackpot when I got the call that would change my life at 11pm on Wednesday, June 18th.

Thanks to the kindness of a young man who was registered as a deceased organ donor, memorial donation, upon his passing from heart disease, I was able to receive his kidney donation the next day.

My family and I, will be forever grateful to this young man for the renewed chance at a healthy life, and the opportunity this will give me in continuing to raise my children and supporting my students.

God’s timing is always perfect!

After my transplant, I will be unable to return to work for for some time as I recover, attend multiple appointments, and balance the medications that I will need to be on for the rest of my life.

This GoFundMe campaign has been started to help cover my medical bills, continued care, and living expenses for our family of 4, while I make a full recovery.
