My name is Dawn Lamitie-Elias and over the past year, my life has changed dramatically due to serious health challenges. I have suffered two strokes and underwent brain surgery after a brain aneurysm. Recently, I was diagnosed with Primary Lateral Sclerosis (PLS), a rare neurological condition that requires ongoing treatment and care. These events have made it difficult for me to maintain my independence and have greatly affected my daily life.
I work for the Finger Lakes Times newspaper, and I am grateful that my employer allows me to work from home. However, I no longer want to leave my home, and my balance and ability to do everyday activities have diminished significantly. The medical bills from my surgery, ongoing treatments, and new diagnosis are overwhelming. While I am currently focused on paying these bills, I know that in the future I will need therapy, medication, home care, and equipment to help manage my symptoms and maintain my quality of life.
Everyone’s support would truly and emotionally mean so much to me. Your kindness will help me cover essential medical expenses and give me hope as I navigate this challenging journey. Thank you for considering a donation and for being part of my support system.
