David Purvis was always active, working hard as a self-employed professional and dedicated family man. At the end of August, David began experiencing severe back and sciatica pain, which quickly escalated beyond his usual discomfort. After several doctor visits and a fall that broke his leg, David’s condition worsened. He lost feeling in both legs and was admitted to the hospital, where doctors discovered a large abscessed infection in his thoracic spine. Emergency surgery was required, and David spent 30 days in the hospital, facing the reality of permanent paralysis from the waist down.
Now home, David is adjusting to a new way of life. He can no longer work and is dependent on his wife, Terri, who balances her full-time job, caregiving, and parenting their high schooler. David served as a reservist and was honorably discharged 30 years ago, but the family was surprised to find there is little support available for veterans in his situation. Despite everything, David remains hopeful and determined to stay positive, trusting that God is in control and that brighter days are ahead.
The funds raised will help renovate David’s home to accommodate his wheelchair, make his bathroom accessible, install ramps, pay medical bills, and cover essential household expenses. Every donation, prayer, and share makes a difference. Please help spread the word and keep David in your thoughts as he works toward regaining as much independence as possible. Your support means the world to this family as they face life’s unexpected changes together.
