Support Danni McCarthy's Battle with Breast Cancer

Dear friends, family, and friends of friends & family,

My dear friend Danni McCarthy, who is a selfless and amazing person, who offers her time and kindness to those in need, is now in need of help and support.

In August of 2024, Danni noticed what appeared to be a bruise at first, and then later an indentation in her right breast. In early September, she went to her doctor who immediately agreed that something was wrong. She was referred for a mammogram and ultrasound, along with a referral to oncology in Bozeman. On September 11th, Danni was unofficially diagnosed with breast cancer with the final diagnosis on 9/16. On September 25th, she had a surgical consult and was set to have a single mastectomy on October 8th.

On October 8th, Danni had surgery to remove her right breast. During the surgery, it was discovered she had not one but two tumors. She also had two lymph nodes biopsied, with one coming back as having cancer and an extranodal, a.k.a. cancer starting to spread.

She met with oncology in Bozeman two weeks after the surgery. Oncology ran more tests on her breast tissue and determined she was not a candidate for chemotherapy! This was a win for her and her family; however, she would need radiation based on the lymph node and extranodal.

Danni decided to have more intense radiation for three weeks, rather than less for five weeks. She goes for radiation treatment five days a week for fifteen minutes each day, for 16 sessions. She will complete the radiation treatment on December 5th.

The future for Danni will hold hormone therapy, a left breast mastectomy, and reconstructive surgery. She will have to continue to have checkups monthly during hormone therapy and go in every six months for MRIs and/or mammograms.

Danni has said that she could not do this fight without the support of her family and friends. They have provided the laughter, hugs, and words of encouragement she needs to kick cancer's butt.

As the financial burden is rising, I am reaching out and asking for help for this amazing woman and her family during this time.
