Dan (Danny) Christy has been a radiant light in the lives of so many—whether you met him singing and dancing in high school, or crossed paths with him in Oklahoma, Colorado, or his current home in Arizona.

If you know Danny, you know joy. You know warmth. You know what it feels like to be truly seen.

Danny is sunshine in human form. His heart is vast, his empathy profound, and his generosity humbling. He loves without limits, defends fiercely, and lifts others with his unwavering compassion. Danny has always had a rare gift: the ability to see past the surface and into the soul of a person. He makes you feel beautiful just by being you.

A Devastating Diagnosis

In June, Danny was rushed to the ER after suffering a serious brain bleed. He was unconscious for days. Imaging revealed two large malignant brain tumors, along with several smaller ones. Surgeons performed a craniotomy to remove the larger tumors, and miraculously, Danny began to recover — returning home sooner than expected and re-learning to walk and talk.

But the miracle was followed by heartbreak.

Danny was diagnosed with stage 4 metastatic melanoma. The cancer had spread to his brain, lungs, spleen, and adrenal glands. His prognosis is terminal.

Soon after, Danny suffered another brain bleed and was hospitalized again. He chose to start radiation—not as a cure, but to buy precious time with those he loves. Sadly, the treatments were excruciating, and so Danny made the decision to enter hospice care at home.

A Family Holding Each Other Up

Danny lives in Phoenix with his beloved partner Lex, who suffered a stroke in 2015. Danny has been Lex’s devoted caregiver ever since, often saying there was nowhere else he’d rather be.

Now, Danny’s sister Dianna—who moved to Phoenix several years ago—is caring for both Danny and Lex, with help from their mother. Their days are focused on surrounding Danny with comfort, peace, and love. But the financial burden is immense.
