Support Claire Beach in her fight against cancer
In January of 2017, my mother was diagnosed with stage 3C ovarian cancer. After 9 months of chemotherapy and a surgery in which she lost 7 organs, she was declared cancer free. The courage, attitude, and strength of will that she displayed during this period will forever inspire me.
However, this past August we were informed that the cancer had returned. We always knew there was a chance of it returning, but that hasn’t made it any easier. Regardless, she was ready for another fight and started back on chemotherapy right away. At first, it seemed as though the chemo was working, but this December we were told that that was no longer the case. As of this moment, her future is uncertain.
This time has been particularly difficult for a variety of reasons. First, the side-effects of the chemo have been much more severe and debilitating this time around. A few times we had to take breaks just so that parts of her body could heal themselves enough for her to even be able to continue. Secondly, as a substitute teacher, she only gets paid for the days she can physically show up to work. Because of the time spent in chemo, time needed to recover from the horrific side-effects of chemo, and many other cancer related reasons, she had to turn down a tremendous amount of work over this time.
Like I’ve said to many, she has the best attitude of anyone I’ve ever met in my life. However, attitude doesn’t cover bills. And the bills don’t care that you have cancer. Over this time, they have added up and necessary procedures have been put on hold. Most of which simply can’t be put off any longer.
I’ve set up this gofundme to give anyone whose life she has touched, which is anyone who has ever met her, the opportunity to help support her through this incredibly tough time. Also, I’m accepting donations as birthday presents for myself. It seems fitting considering I wouldn’t have a birthday without her.
Money will go to rent, utilities, car repair, cataract surgery, oral surgery, and more.
