Support Celia’s journey of Rebuilding

Donation protected

Celia Perez is a transgender advocate and activist who was paroled in June 2020 after 28 years of incarceration. In the last year, Celia has taken remarkable steps to support herself as she supports her community. Celia leads groups at Homeboy Industries helping formally incarcerated, justice-impacted, transgender and LGBTQA+ community members. While battling her own fight with a blood disease, moving from prison into transitional homes, and commuting hours each day to Homeboys, last month Celia secured an apartment of her own. Her tenacity, compassion, and love for the world is contagious.

On Wednesday July 21, Celia’s motorized scooter and wallet were stolen while she was at a group. This was her only mode of transportation in Los Angels. Alongside some necessary cash in her wallet, many essentials items were taken.

We are asking friends, family, and the community for financial support to recover her motorized scooter and items in her wallet. Most importantly, this campaign is to model the reciprocal reconciliation that our justice system cannot provide. This is to pay respect and homage to the hard work Celia provides to our community by tending our love to her. By filling the gap left by the person who took Celia’s belongings, we can transform it’s impact towards jumpstarting Celia’s wellbeing.
