Brooklynn Paige Madison, my 23-year-old niece, was in a horrible car crash on July 23rd. As best we can tell, her car hydroplaned. Brooklynn has been in ICU at UAB since the 23rd. It is estimated she will be in the hospital for a year and a half. Brooklynn has had 4 surgeries and has many more to go. She has sustained severe injuries to include a brain injury, 3 spinal breaks, 17 ribs broken, and the top of her spine was fully decapitated from her skull. She broke her right arm and left collar bone, and her spinal cord was leaking. Brooklynn is paralyzed from her breast down for the rest of her life. She will need a specialty wheelchair, specialty bed, and so much more.
