While I sit here and type this, I still can't believe that I am.....

Help My Dad Fight Inoperable Throat Cancer

Hi, my name is Adam Walters, and I'm reaching out on behalf of my incredible father, William (Bill) Walters, who is currently fighting a heartbreaking and life-threatening battle with inoperable laryngeal cancer.

At 64 years old, my dad has been diagnosed with cancer that stretches from his tonsil down to his voice box. Due to the location and extent of the disease, surgery is not an option. The only course of treatment is a difficult combination of chemotherapy and radiation.

Unfortunately, the cancer—and its impact on his ability to eat—has already taken a severe toll. He has lost over 40 pounds (from about 155 lbs down to 115 lbs) and is extremely weak. One of his vocal cords is completely non-functional, and his ability to swallow has deteriorated so badly that he cannot eat or drink without risk of aspiration (food or water traveling into his lungs). To safely nourish him and get him strong enough to begin treatment, a feeding tube is now medically necessary and will be put in tomorrow, Monday, July 28th. We are also still waiting on a stage diagnosis to see how far along this is, or if it has gone anywhere else.

Watching someone you love suffer like this is unbearable. My dad is a fighter, but he needs the support. The costs of medical care, travel, feeding equipment, and time away from work are mounting rapidly for our family. Every donation—no matter how small—will go directly to helping him receive the care, nutrition, and support he desperately needs to begin his cancer treatment, and will desperately help his wife with travel expenses going back and forth from home and hospital (a 45-minute drive one way).
