Hello! My name is Anna Reynolds, and I am a sophomore at Clemson University majoring in Pre-Veterinary Science, with aspirations of becoming a small animal veterinarian. Ever since I was little, I have dreamed of pursuing this career. Helping animals and providing comfort to their owners is a goal I am deeply passionate about and aspire to achieve in my future.

To gain experience in the veterinary field, strengthen my application for veterinary school, and help underserved communities and their animals, I am joining the Clemson VAW (Volunteers Around the World) Veterinary Outreach Chapter. Our group will be traveling to Cusco, Peru, in July 2025!

VAW Global Health Alliances is a worldwide health and development organization focused on creating sustainable and equitable partnerships with communities and professionals. Their mission is to strengthen local communities and provide critical health services in areas of need, ensuring they are accessible to all. Alongside delivering veterinary treatments, VAW also provides and administers medications, ensures nutritional security for animals, and educates individuals on animal health and care.

During our two weeks in Peru, I will work with 16 other Clemson students, along with students from other universities, to address healthcare concerns. We will spend 9 days working with small animals in local communities, 2 days working with large and exotic animals at a sanctuary, 1 day with a specialized surgeon at a private clinic, and 1 day working with elephants at an elephant sanctuary.
