On July 4th, Amy was out for her morning run and 3 miles into it, she remembers dropping onto the pavement in front of the school in the Bridges. An off duty PHX police officer was leaving to go on shift. Amy always wears very bright color shorts and top because she jogs when it’s dark out. The bright colored clothing probably helped our hero spot Amy and called 911. Amy suffered an aortic dissection of her valve. She was airlifted to the hospital where they performed an extremely difficult heart surgery. Her husband Andy is a Gilbert Fire Captain and was with her throughout. When her family arrived at the hospital, Amy was already in surgery , there was a lobby filled with about a dozen fire first responders from various Gilbert stations. They brought food for all of them and water. Both Mia snd Macy were out of town, it was these same selfless people who picked the girls up at the airport and brought them to the hospital.

Amy pushed through 6 hours of surgery, was in critical condition in the ICU for days and miraculously survived. Praise God.

It was Amy’s healthy life style that contributed to the outcome …. Her love for health, Exercise, God and the phenomenal first responders, doctors and nurses is what saved Amy and returned her home to her loving family and friends. She’s a miracle.

Any amount given will help this beautiful family tremendously. The Larkin’s are not the type to ask for help, but dealing with this unexpected circumstance.. out of network care, air flight costs and loss of income for weeks/months while trying to recover from heart surgery is overwhelming.
