Support Amy reach Commonwealth Powerlifting Championships 24
Spende geschützt
After much persuasion I have bitten the bullet…
My name is Amy and recently I was selected to compete in my first international competition; The Commonwealth powerlifting championships, which will be held in South Africa in October 2024.
Once I heard the news of my selection, I was over the moon. Being able to represent my country has been something I have dreamt of since I was 13. However, it came with the overwhelming thoughts of the costs surrounding the journey. Currently I am a full time Physiotherapy master’s student and whilst studying I have been working as much as I can as personal trainer to fund my studies.
From the age of 13 I was a competitive swimmer, in which I dreamt of competing internationally. However, it wasn’t meant to be and I ended up finding powerlifting 6 years ago. Having no idea that the sport existed, I thought there was nothing to lose, and had no idea of the potential to grow within the sport.
My journey has been far from easy with lots of hard work, dedication, and sacrifice throughout. From 5am pool sessions before school, training in my dad’s garage throughout covid-19, to experiencing an injury which required an extensive 2-year rehab journey. So, not to blow my own trumpet but my first international selection has been well earned and I hope to earn many more selections in the future.
Anyway, I will stop rambling on, I am reaching out to you guys as I am looking for support in making my way to South Africa. Competing at an international level comes with significant costs which largely fall on the athlete; therefore, your contributions will help me cover the various expenses.
By supporting my journey, you will be helping me reach a major milestone within my powerlifting journey and helping me represent my country with great pride for the very first time!
Any help would be greatly appreciated, and your support would not go unrecognised!
