Support Alicia's Fight Against B1 Deficiency

Hey yall, it’s me Alicia. Never in a million years did I imagine I’d be here but I am and could use any help rendered in behalf of my health and the copious amounts of medical bills.
On July 1, 2022 I had weight loss surgery. I did this with all intent and hope to better my life, longevity to live and just overall to feel better. AND to be present for my son Jett and husband Charles.
Three weeks post op I was hospitalized twice for dehydration. A month post op I was admitted for a 2 night hospital stay and found out I had low potassium. Came home and was so weak, I slept for days. By Labor Day of 2022, I went completely comatose and was taken via ambulance to the ER.
An MRI conducted concluded I had low Thiamine (also known as B1 Vitamin) and grey shadowing on my brainstem. I woke up 3 days after going comatose to a speech therapist, occupational therapist and physical therapist. My worst nightmare- I couldn’t walk on my own. I had a walker, gate belt and wheelchair at my bedside. I was moved to in patient physical therapy for a week.
I made it home and an eye mystigmous appeared. I couldn’t see without my eye twitching and most days the room would spin. This too was a direct side effect of low B1 Vitamin- directly related to my weight loss surgery.
In the subsequent months to follow, I had to see a neuro- opthologist who recommended vision therapy. Along with this, I attended physical therapy twice a week. Vision therapy helped restore my vision 100% and I’m forever thankful. Not a single penny of it was covered on insurance. It depleted our entire savings for our wedding we were planning- but you can’t put a price on being able to see.
It was concluded last August that I have a B1 Vitamin Deficiency after a second MRI. Praise be I had no grey shadowing any longer on my brainstem. I underwent nerve testing, visited a specialist to clear Parkinson’s and MS. Thankfully, it was determined I just have the B1 Deficiency.
Unfortunately there is NO cure for B1- I take a vitamin every day. I attend physical therapy weekly. I use a walker and wheel chair. I have hand tremors and a voice tremor. All from loss of B1 from my surgery.
This past January I was laid off of my job of 13 1/2 years. They graciously offered my health benefits through the end of June 2024.
My husband and I are so thankful for the heaps of help we’ve gotten the past 23 months. Family, friends and strangers. People who have been literal angels. We’re asking for monetary help for my continued health as well as medical bills, ambulance ride, etc.
We understand not everyone can give monetary help, but appreciate you sharing our story.

All our love,
