I was in the final year of my PhD when I was diagnosed with stage 3 breast cancer.

Unfortunately, because my PhD was funded through a tax-free scholarship, I’m not eligible for PRSI-based social welfare payments. I’m currently in the process of applying for disability supports, but in the meantime there are many day-to-day costs that come with cancer treatment.

Any money raised here would go towards practical supports: groceries, the cost of medicines, fuel for hospital appointments, and other essentials.

My partner is working part-time at the moment to help support me, and I’m incredibly lucky that we’re able to live with my parents while I’m undergoing treatment, so we’re not in a dire situation. This fundraiser is simply here for anyone who would like to support us in easing the financial pressure a little during this time. Since starting to post about my journey on tiktok people have been messaging me asking if I had a gofund me as they want to offer practical support.
