On May 6, 2024, Darlene "Aisha" Dancy, another Native Washingtonian, unexpectedly crossed into Ancestry. She was my sister-friend of over 60+ years, a confidant, and a partner in many humanitarian efforts. She was a "Believer", a spiritual warrior, a healer, a visionary organizer, entrepreneur, a creative photojournalist, and an accomplished vocalist. I watched this amazing woman advocate for the homeless, the less fortunate, and give to others, often, without regard for herself.

Like many who serve their community, she did not have health insurance. I was blessed to raise some funds for a celebration of her life, on May 18th, but now, I come before the “beloved community” to request support of $4000 for her final expenses.
