Support a Group of Scholars

I, Zahed Fettah (Birmingham, UK), know of five scholars personally who either have debts they are unable to pay off or other necessary expenses which they are struggling with, such as completing their studies and necessary travels. If anyone wants to give their Zakah to help pay the debts or other Zakatable cause, then please specify that in your donation.

 

I cannot obviously specify names, as that opposes the respect our Mashayikh deserve. All five of these scholars have spent 20 years plus in studying, writing, and teaching, some of them spent 40+ years in knowledge. All of them have families, so I wish to do my bit in supporting in any way possible, because I know of their situation personally. They do not disclose these things to others, which makes looking after our scholars harder, but given my personal knowledge and closeness to them, I am aware of these financial challenges that can get in the way of their role as scholars.

 

Alhamdulillah, we have easier access to scholars and they give up a lot of their time, answering questions, giving advice, teachings, and resolving disputes, so we have a duty to give something back. One of the five has a debt that he took upon himself to help someone in desperate need, so now he has found himself in debt. Another needs to complete his study programme which will facilitate finding suitable work to keep him teaching, while another has a more serious debt. One is outside the UK and due to political unrest is in serious financial difficulty too. These are just some examples.
