​Mi nombre es Fernando De Regil López y hoy tengo que dejar el orgullo a un lado para pedir su ayuda, porque mi futuro y el de mi familia dependen de ello.

​Una vida de retos superados

Nací en los años 80 sin mi brazo izquierdo. Crecer en una época donde la inclusión no era prioridad fue difícil; enfrenté discriminación y puertas cerradas, pero nunca me rendí. En 2010, la vida me puso otra prueba: fui diagnosticado con un tumor cerebral. Aunque la operación fue exitosa, me dejó secuelas físicas permanentes y una disminución de fuerza en mis extremidades.

​Aun así, decidí no detenerme. En 2012 entré a estudiar Derecho y en 2015 logré mi sueño: me gradué, obtuve mi título y mi cédula profesional. Para 2016, conseguí un puesto en Hacienda. Pensé que "lo había logrado".

​

Lamentablemente, el estrés y la carga laboral fueron demasiado para mi condición física. Mi cuerpo colapsó. Terminé hospitalizado y perdí movilidad en ambas piernas, además de fuerza en mi único brazo (el derecho). Esto llevó a que el Seguro Social me pensionara por invalidez, impidiéndome legalmente volver a tener un empleo formal.

​Caí en una depresión profunda. Sentía que, siendo tan joven, mi vida productiva había terminado.

​Una nueva esperanza sobre ruedas

En 2021 vi una luz al final del túnel: las plataformas de transporte (Uber). Gracias a un amigo, empecé a conducir. Descubrí que, aunque mis piernas no respondían para caminar bien, sí podían llevarme a trabajar detrás de un volante. Empecé a recuperar mi dignidad, mis ingresos y mi salud mental.

​En 2024, con muchísimo esfuerzo y fe, di el gran paso: saqué mi propio vehículo a crédito. Me convertí en mi propio jefe. Los números cuadraban y podía pagar el carro y mantener a mi familia. Todo iba bien.

​¿Por qué necesito su ayuda hoy?

Recientemente, cambios en las regulaciones gubernamentales y en las tarifas de las plataformas han golpeado brutalmente los ingresos de miles de conductores, incluyéndome. Lo que antes me alcanzaba para pagar el crédito del auto y vivir, hoy ya no es suficiente.

​Al estar pensionado por invalidez, no tengo plan B. No puedo salir a buscar otro trabajo físico ni de oficina. Mi carro es mi única opción, son mis piernas y es la comida de mi familia.

​Actualmente, la deuda del vehículo y los préstamos que tuve que pedir para subsistir ante esta crisis ascienden a $60,000 pesos. Hoy ya no puedo cubrirlos y estoy a punto de perder el vehículo. Si me quitan el carro, me quitan mi única forma de trabajar.

​¿Cómo puedes ayudar?

Mi meta es recaudar los fondos necesarios para liquidar el vehículo y las deudas asociadas, lo que me permitiría seguir trabajando libre de cuotas impagables y asegurar el sustento de mi hogar.

​My name is Fernando De Regil López, and today I have to set my pride aside to ask for your help, because my future and my family’s well-being depend on it.

​A Life of Overcoming Challenges

I was born in the 80s without my left arm. Growing up in a time when inclusion wasn't a priority was tough; I faced discrimination and closed doors, but I never gave up. In 2010, life tested me again: I was diagnosed with a brain tumor. Although the surgery was successful, it left me with permanent physical aftereffects and diminished strength in my limbs.

​Still, I refused to stop. In 2012, I enrolled in law school, and by 2015, I achieved my dream: I graduated and became a licensed attorney. By 2016, I secured a job at the government tax office. I thought I had finally "made it."

​The Breaking Point

Unfortunately, the stress and workload were too much for my physical condition. My body collapsed. I ended up hospitalized, losing mobility in both legs and strength in my only arm (the right one). This led to Social Security granting me a permanent disability pension, which legally prevents me from holding a formal job again.

​I fell into a deep depression. I felt that, despite being so young, my productive life was over.

​New Hope on Wheels

In 2021, I saw a light at the end of the tunnel: rideshare platforms (Uber). Thanks to a friend, I started driving. I discovered that even though my legs couldn't walk well, they could still drive a car. I began to regain my dignity, my income, and my mental health.

​In 2024, with immense effort and faith, I took a big step: I bought my own vehicle on credit. I became my own boss. The numbers added up, and I could pay for the car and support my family. Everything was going well.

​Why Do I Need Your Help Today?

Recently, changes in government regulations and platform rates have brutally hit the income of thousands of drivers, myself included. What used to be enough to pay the car loan and living expenses is no longer sufficient.

​Since I am on a disability pension, I have no Plan B. I cannot go out and look for another physical or office job. My car is my only option; it serves as my legs and puts food on my family’s table.

​Currently, the debt for the vehicle and the loans I had to take out to survive this crisis amounts to $60,000 MXN (approx. $3200 USD). Today, I can no longer cover these payments, and I am on the verge of losing the vehicle. If I lose my car, I lose my only way to work.

My goal is to raise the funds necessary to pay off the vehicle and the associated debts. This would allow me to continue working free from unpayable installments and secure my household's sustenance.
