Sulayman & his family !
Spende geschützt
Hi. My name is Cal Cameron, I am from Texas doing a fundraiser for my dear friend Sulayman who lives in Africa...
One morning I woke up like any other day here in Texas, cooked some breakfast, and sat down to watch some TV to start my day. On the television, I watched as someone spoke about generosity and how people are moved when we give to others. I have heard this kind of thing before, and I am sure you have too. BUT this time, somehow, I was incredibly overwhelmed by this. I didn't know why this topic was hitting me so hard on this particular summer morning. It stirred deep inside.
SO overwhelmed, that I went into my bedroom, shut the door, and got down on my knees. Something was about to happen, I could feel it. I began for a couple minutes just asking God how He wanted me to show... "generosity"...
I'll never forget it. At that moment, on the wood floors, with my head bowed, my phone vibrated next to me. It was an Instagram message from Sulayman Manneh. I had no clue who this was. I had a... "God, no way, am I in a dream?" freak-out moment, then opened the message as fast as I could. Sulayman explained in text that he and his family are refugees in a country in Africa, called Gambia. I had a... "God, no way, am I in a dream?" freak out moment. He and his family fled from their home country due to a war started by rebels in Senegal, Africa. Sulayman explained that he had lost family & friends in this brutal crazy civil war, he also lost his whole taxi business. With his Taxi business, he supported his grandparents, brothers, and sisters.
Being cautious & despite the crazy set of events that just happened in my bedroom... I sent my phone number and told Sulayman on Instagram to Facetime me. He immediately called me and I talked to him face-to-face for an hour on the phone. He introduced me to his whole family and several of his friends. Sulayman elaborated on his situation, he makes concrete blocks for work in Gambia for $5 USD A DAY attempting the family he once supported before the war in Senegal. He and his family go between being homeless and living in a shack with no beds, windows, or doors. They are more often hungry with no food than not. It's crazy.
I was in tears. Not just for his situation but that God Himself, in all of His magnificent timing, would bring 26-year-old Sulayman & his beautiful family to me.
This was 6 months ago. I have had the blessing of talking to Sulayman on a weekly basis through FaceTime. I have been giving to him monthly. He shows me HOW he picks up the money and HOW he spends every single dime of what I give him. It is really, truly beautiful.
I am starting this fundraiser to buy Sulayman a Taxi. With this, he can support his family once again like he did before the wars in Senegal.
Please donate whatever you can. Even if it is $5, that's what he makes in a FULL DAY of work. So that would be extremely generous. Every dime is going to him to support his family.
Thanks. Cal.
