This is my story:
My name is Jess, 28 years old.
February 7th 2015 my whole life changed. I was a victim in a serious car accident. I woke up after 3 weeks in a coma and I was in the hospital 3 months
I lost my job, home, my car etc. and most of all my independence.
My Father is the only parent/family I have and sadly he is terminally ill with Colon Cancer, which leaves me with no family in the US, making my struggle to get my daily life back much more extensive.
I feel now that being dependent on others is a burden and very mental for me. I need to feel independent, as I am currently living at a friend’s house who is kind enough to support me for the time being.
The doctor’s hope for me to be walking in a years’ time and fully recovered in 2-3 years, and a car would make a life of difference for me so i can start driving to the doctors myself and eventually try to get a job again.
My life may never be the same but my independence will give me my pride and confidence back. That’s a huge Start for me.
I have always been a hard worker helping others which gave me so much satisfaction knowing that I could contribute to others lives.
In my accident:
I was T-boned by a drunk driver, and consequently broke 10 ribs, puncture my lungs, crushed my pelvis, hole in bladder, needed hip surgery, subdural hematoma and my left leg has severe nerve damage, rendering me handicapped and in need of a wheelchair, because I am unable to walk. My doctors hope that I should be able to walk again with a at least a year or so of physical therapy, that hopefully my nerves will regain power and feeling to my left leg.
The doctors repaired my hip, bladder and tailbone with steel rods and screws.
I am a walking miracle. I thank god every day for me being able to walk, talk and most of all being alive.
I did not get any claim out of my accident due to Nevada being a no-fault state and the driver who I was hit by had no insurance.
I just want some of my life back and a car would be such a blessing for me, so any donation big or small would make a huge difference in my quest.
I am not the type of person to ask for things but I have to swallow my pride and hope for the best.
