Join Hands for Students in Need at SCES

*Update: We have agreed with Mr. Rand, our school's principal, that any funds raised beyond the original goal will seed a school fund for family assistance (details TBD). Thank you SO much for your generosity!*
This morning our school's Administrative Secretary told me about families of students at Sligo Creek Elementary who are in dire need this holiday season, and asked if there is anything we can do to help. These are families who do not have enough to eat, much less gifts for their children.
The PTA does not currently have funds that can be authorized for this purpose (believe me, I asked).
After talking it over with other parents, I am humbly coming to you now to see whether you will join me in putting even $5-$10 dollars toward helping these families within our community. I know the winter break has started, and many of us have begun our holidays -- and are maybe also just plain tapped out on giving.
Call me crazy, but my goal is to raise $3,000 ASAP to provide $100 each to 30 families. Several families have already contributed, so we're down to $2800! Ms. Terry will be at school on Monday and can accept cash or checks (payable to Sligo Creek Elementary School) or you can contribute via GoFund me or via:
1. Paypal: [email redacted]
2. Venmo: @dawsontaggart
Thank you so much for your consideration. This school community has been a lifeline for our family, always coming through in a pinch. It pains me to make this request at the last minute, but it would pain me much more to know of the need and NOT to ask for help.
With all my very best to you and yours,
Amy

PS: Please note that this appeal is in my personal capacity as a fellow parent, *not* as part of the PTA. The PTA Board did authorize an 'emergency' transfer of funds to provide these same families with Thanksgiving meals, and hopes to build this type of assistance into future budgets.
