Help Hrachya continue studying Bioengineering in the USA
Do you believe in second chances? I think we all do when it comes to the matter of life and death. Billions of people worldwide, even some people you know, got a second chance when they underwent an MRI or ultrasound scan and discovered their disease at an early stage, or handicapped soldiers who were lucky to receive an artificial hip, hand, or leg and not degrade their quality of life.
Many people owe their second chances to Bioengineering, a subject I aspire to study.
Hi, I am Hrachya Nalbandyan, a 20-year-old from Gyumri, accepted to the University of Colorado at Boulder, USA to study Biomedical Engineering. The University of Colorado at Boulder is one of the top world universities to study Bioengineering, according to the Academic Ranking of World Universities, and focuses on designing solutions to global healthcare problems with the help of innovative technologies. While Bioengineering is a vital field, I am honored but also somehow saddened to tell you that according to the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sport of Armenia, I am the only student from our Homeland to receive an offer to pursue Bioengineering abroad.
Currently, I am a junior at CU Boulder University and I am pursuing a double major in Bioengineering and Neuroscience. This gofundme link is from 2021 when I just started my journey and I am very thankful to everyone who supported me to start my education back then. But as you know being an international student is difficult since, in addition to having outstanding grades and goals, you must be able to pay for it. I am currently facing a significant challenge. The lack of funds to cover my tuition puts my educational journey in jeopardy, particularly for the upcoming spring semester, which plays a pivotal role in my academic advancement. The required tuition for this semester amounts to approximately $20,000. Given these obstacles, I find myself in a state of urgency. Your consideration of my situation would not only be a profound support for my future but also an investment in the aspirations of those in Armenia who look to science for assistance. Any assistance you can provide will have a meaningful impact, and I sincerely hope you can empathize with my predicament.
Why Bioengineering?
While studying at Ayb High School I got a chance to deep dive into the world of biology and engineering, and through a number of lab experiments and studies, I discovered my passion for bioengineering. With the world’s population aging, bioengineers are best equipped to meet the rising demand. Bioengineers are needed to drive rapid innovations in medical technologies, such as 3D printing of organs and tissues and micro-electro-mechanical systems (MEMS).
Hrach as a Bioengineer
As a bioengineer, I will be able to actively participate in laboratory investigations and the creation of innovative biological technologies that will change the lives of billions worldwide. Moreover, my home country Armenia is in dire need of accessible, locally produced technologies to save and improve the lives of underprivileged citizens. My long-term goal is to establish my own chain of laboratories abroad and in Armenia, to find cures for a number of untreatable diseases and contribute to the development of the science and healthcare system of Armenia.
My background
• Ayb High School graduate
• A certified alumnus of the Araratian Baccalaureate Examination Center in collaboration with Cambridge Assessment International Education in Biology and Mathematics.
• Intern at the Biological Laboratory at L. A. Orbeli Institute of Physiology
• Completed an online course in Bioengineering from the University of Manchester, UK & Royal College, UK
• Participated in workshops and lectures on Bioengineering
•.Participated in project-based learning on the "DNA Data Storage" topic as part of the "Bioinformatics" club of Ayb High School
How can you help?
Now, I kindly ask you to support me in accepting this lifetime opportunity to continue studying Bioengineering at the University of Colorado at Boulder, to contribute to the realization of my dream and development of science in Armenia.
If you are passionate about education and science like I am, please, take this chance to donate any amount and support me to get closer to my dream. If you cannot donate, do not hesitate to share this fundraiser. Any help counts.
I can promise that every dollar donated, in the long run, will go to the development of science in particular and our Homeland in general.
