Strong like Steel in his fight against a brain tumor
Spende geschützt
Update 7/1 Meagan (steel's mom):
"Steel had such a good weekend!
We got some
family pics done before he starts treatments. We roasted hotdogs and made s'mores.
He has spent a lot of time playing with friends and enjoying being a kid.
Steel has another surgery scheduled for tomorrow morning to put in his port, and do a spinal tap.
We appreciate everyone's continued prayers, support, and positive vibes. Steel will need as much support as possible going into this surgery, as he is very hesitant about another surgery.

Update 6/22 Meagan (Steel's mom):
Steel West Robinson. My sweet, innocent baby boy.
.
On Thursday June 20th we got the news that no one should ever have to hear.

The next year is going to be a long road but you are strong, brave, and independent. You have handled everything dished at you like a superhero!! Cancer is going to be no different!

Update 6/18: From Meagan (Steel's mom)
"Today marks 14 days since this wild journey with Steel began. As I sit here and think about everything it feels like just yesterday but somehow also a lifetime ago. Everything has changed but he somehow is the exact same kid.
.
Steel broke out of Primary Children’s on Saturday (15th) after saying goodbye to Kinnli and Jennifer Wilde. Of course he had to get a pic with his favorite nurse Ashley Dredge!
.
His ‘Welcome Home’ party was overwhelming and so emotional! We are blessed with some of the most amazing friends that have shown up for us over and over again that made it all possible. You are amazing and I love you!
.
Quentin’s football team and coaches really rallied around Steel. The way these boys have taken him under their wing is so heartwarming and I am beyond grateful to have such amazing kids in my boys lives.
.
Steel has been recovering so well being home. His first night back in his own bed was “the best night sleep I have ever had” according to him.

Update from Meagan 6/11:
"Today is our one week mark. So much has changed in 7 days.
.
Last Tuesday morning seemed like any other day.
.
Wes and I spent quite a while talking about our sick boy. We knew something was wrong. Not sure what exactly was going on but knew he wasn’t getting better.
.
11:30a we were at pediatricians getting another strep test.
.
2:30p we were at Utah Valley getting an MRi.
.
By 4:15p they had told us it was a tumor and we began making plans to transfer to Primary Children’s.
.
So much has changed in such a short time and we have seen so many miracles.
.
Steel’s recovery far surpasses anything the doctors expected. He is strong and stubborn and witty. He definitely has not lost his personality or his wit!!
.
We are tentatively looking at the possibility of going home in 5 days.
.
The thought of going home brings relief and its own set of anxieties.
.
We cannot tell everyone how much we have appreciated all of the messages of love and support.
.

I am Cassidy Torgerson - aunt to Steel. This past week has been very difficult and I am just hoping to help Steel's parents in any way that I can. We know that there is a long road ahead for Steel and his family.
On June 4th, Steel was rushed to Primary Children's and Meagan and Wes were given the news that a parent hopes to never receive.
They were told that their 8yr old son had a 38.2 mm brain tumor at the base of his skull. Doctors felt that because of the growth and size of the tumor that it is most likely malignant, but the tissues will have to be sent off and be tested. This process will take approximately two weeks for a full diagnosis.
Follow up MRI's showed no sign of the mass spreading down his spinal cord.
Prior to the diagnosis, Steel started having headaches, vision problems, balance issues and spinal pain.
On June 6th, Steel was taken into surgery to remove the mass and the surgeons were able to fully remove the tumor. His team will be setting up a treatment plan for him, including chemo and radiation.
Meagan and Wes run a lawn service business, and have had to halt most services, so they can focus on Steel. Any thoughts, prayers, or financial support would be appreciated. As medical bills and expenses will add up as they focus on Steel's treatment. Anything will be extremely helpful.
