Strider's ebike was stolen

A few weeks ago, after attending Church, Strider Benston was heading out to lunch, a real treat, as he's not one to typically spend the money to dine out. Unfortunately, when he emerged from the restaurant, his new (8 month old) E-bike, his only source of transportation, had been stolen. Even if do not know Strider personally, you've likely seen him around town on his bike. A former endurance (100 mile +) runner, as his knees and body has aged (he's nearly 79) he took to bicycling and has been riding around Longmont for years; Strider is well known among City staff and Council members (past and current), as well as at the Senior Center and Java Stop. His Ebike provided him the luxury of grocery shopping, without worrying about the weight, and getting to appointments regardless of route or weather.

I am working with Small Planet Ebikes to get Strider a new bike, along with a new suitable lock, so that Strider can resume grocery shopping, attending Church, appointments and the Community events that he so enjoys, without worrying about the weight of the groceries, the lights failing (E-bikes have built in lights) or even fearing an awkward dismount. Strider is used to riding a bike everywhere and has been for years, and year round. It's his freedom, and that was taken when his bike was stolen. Help us fund a new set of wheels (E-bike) for Strider, who lives simply, while he continues to write poetry, sing, and "do good" in the community.
