Stop 5G Spartanburg is raising money to cover expenses involved in developing and printing flyers, fact sheets, informative door hangers, T-shirts and other educational materials needed to help bring awareness to the residents of Spartanburg. These are absolutely vital to the cause, as informing the public about 5G is of extreme importance. We would also like to host community events and a screening of the documentary 'Generation Zapped'. Our goal is not only to educate, but to encourage the local community to make their voices heard to our elected city, state, and federal representatives. Most residents of Spartanburg are unaware that 5G is on the verge of being implemented in city. These tools will help us educate and bring awareness to 5G and the health and safety risks associated with it.

What is 5G?
5G is the fifth-generation cellular network technology. Unlike previous generations of cellular technology, this requires a completely different infrastructure to operate effectively. 5G uses an ultra-high frequency signal- in what’s called ‘the millimeter-wave frequency band’. These millimeter-wave frequencies are more powerful, but do not travel far or through objects. To compensate, 20-30-foot towers, also called small cell towers, must be placed 500 feet apart from one another; in addition to the already existing towers.
Concerns surrounding 5G
· Privacy Concerns
o The risk to privacy that 5G and similar technology poses is not debatable. Unlike prior cell technology, there is no opting out of 24/7 precise location information sharing. With 5G, one’s every position and activity will be knowable, recordable and marketable down to millimeter precision.
o In conjunction with facial recognition, deep learning algorithms will be equipped with the ability to find anyone within the network with ease, instantaneously. Such information is extremely valuable to characterize the identity of the consumer along with other highly personal information that will be shared and sold to the highest bidder; impacting one’s ability to get a job, borrow money, or purchase a product. 5G is a powerful tool in the technology “wild west” where common sense legislation doesn’t yet exist.

· Health Concerns
o No studies have been completed or conducted on the health and safety of this technology. This is concerning particularly when one works or lives within proximity of a 5G tower.
o 5G towers emit radiofrequency (RF) radiation which has been classified by the World Health Organization as a class 2B carcinogen.
o 5G waves are ultra-high frequency and ultra-high intensity. Whereas 1G, 2G, 3G and 4G use between 1 and 5 gigahertz frequency, 5G uses between 24 and 90 gigahertz frequency.
o Published research confirms that wireless radiation has biological effects seen in all life forms.
o A European Union 5G conference in 2019 asked the conference participants if there were serious health problems or consequence due to 5G. Their response, “(It is) Impossible to say since the 5G network was not up and running”. By their own admission, they acknowledged that the 5G rollout is the biggest biological experiment in human history as they plan to measure public exposure levels and health consequences AFTER the rollout.
