Stony Brook PA Medical Mission to Nicaragua

During my spring break this year, some of my classmates and I will be traveling to Nicaragua with the organization FNE International. We will be providing medical services, with an emphasis on primary care and women’s health, to patients who do not have access to these services. Through this mission, we are working to bring sustainable solutions to a weak healthcare system by providing health care and illness prevention services to some of the most underserved communities of the world.

Nicaragua is the second poorest country in the Western Hemisphere. FNE International is a non-profit organization, based in Massachusetts, that works with rural communities in northwest Nicaragua to develop cooperative, sustainable projects to improve the lives of people, including community development, education, health infrastructure improvement and violence prevention programs. All of the projects are planned and coordinated with the people who will benefit from them.
