Steph Inspiring Smiles in Guatemala

Dear family and friends,
I am very excited to share with all of you that I have been given the opportunity to be part of an amazing organization called Project Stretch, and able to give back to the children of Panajachel, Guatemala. The trip will be from June 9 - 17th 2018.
I am a first generation American of Guatemalan decent, and a 2nd year dental student at Tufts University in Boston, Massachusetts. I have always been very passionate about giving back to underserved populations. Prior to entering dental school, I volunteered for many years with a team of dentists that offered free dental services to the immigrant population of Indiantown and Lake Worth, Florida.
This experience, started my journey to become a dentist. It allowed me to see the tremendous need within these communities and how important it is to educate, and provide access to those with limited resources everywhere. I was inspired to not only become a dentist, but I promised myself that when I became one I would continue to volunteer my time to help those in need.
This trip is meaningful to me because it has been a lifelong dream to serve the people of my country. What is unique, and what I love about this program, is that it focuses on sustainability. Meaning, that we won’t only be providing clinical dental care to children, but educating and working with the local village to establish models of preventive dental care for future generations to come.
As a dental student, I am not able to fund my own trip, and so today I am asking for donations to help me fund this mission, no amount will be too small, and I will be forever grateful!
Thank you so much for your love and support, and stay tuned as I get closer to this amazing journey. I will be posting photos, and keeping everyone informed of our progress and accomplishments, that only with your help, I was able to achieve.
Love,
Steph
