Get your walking shoes ready for the Royal Oak Woman’s Club’s Step Out to Help Out Virtual Walk-a-thon to help save the group’s historical clubhouse.
The clubhouse has served as a community hub for public and private events, local high school scholarship programs, a gathering place to support organizations such as Blessings in a Backpack, Royal Oak Public Library, Ruth Ellis, Wigs 4 Kids, Guiding Harbor, Gilda’s Club Metro Detroit, Sanctum House, all in addition to collecting gifts and signing holiday cards for vets, knitting caps for babies in the PICU at Beaumont, collecting goods for Operation Smile, Soles4Souls, and Welcome Inn, plus many, many more.
As the oldest building in Royal Oak, the clubhouse was frequently rented out for events and meetings. However, with the pandemic that all changed with rentals being suspended. Rentals had previously covered the $3,000 a month it costs the club to preserve the historic clubhouse, putting a significant strain on the philanthropic group. We are asking you and the community to help the ROWC save our history, so moving forward we can give back and help in return.
