My Name is Starr Huguenin I am 47 years old.I was diagnosed with a rare form of Colon Cancer (only 2000 cases recorded) April 16th, 2013, located in the Duodenal 3rd chamber with Liver mets stage 4 (terminal). I had surgery December 6,2013 having resection of Liver and Duodenal as well as lymph nodes removed. After a short 3 month remission, the cancer came back March of 2014. Since the begining of my diagnoses in April of 2013, I have been receiving chemo treatments. I was told, by my Oncologist, that it is the only form of treatment known with no other options medically, which will eventually run it's course. I am no longer able to work as a Nurses Assistant (over 25 plus year experience), because of the aggressive chemo treatments making me so ill and place me at risk, I am now living on disability.The only option is alternative medicine not covered by Government insurance. Recently, we were given the news of no more medical treatments available ;so now I am living day to day in the care of my husband with hospice coming 2 times a week with life line availbable to me if needed when I am alone.
There is nothing more fringhtening than having something that there isn't enough information about. I have now been fighting for a little over 2 years now and pray for a long life. Although, the doctors haven't given me a set time (I am considered terminal) on when I am going home; I try to live each day to it's fullest. Not knowing I think helps in that so I don't feel so rushed and able to celebrate the rest of my life to the fullest measure.
My husband goes to school full time to become a Chaplin and is also my caretaker full time which makes it difficult for him to even gain employment other than part time to support our family outside of what the GI bill covers for our home expences;- we are barely making it. There is a lot laid upon our shoulders thats becoming too hard to bare. No amount is too small to donate and we believe that God will bless you 100 fold for that generosity.
