Hey. Our names are Brett Isaac and Doug Yazzie from the Navajo Nation. We run and operate a local solar company that specializes in providing people who are off grid a solution to power. We have been building units for the community, government and the businesses there for a few years now.
We had been watching the coverage through social media of what had been happening on the Standing Rock Nation and wanted to contribute by offering a renewable energy solution to power the camp where over 280 Nations and allies have now gathered in solidarity. We put out the call to our family and friends to help fund our trip to bring a 20ft trailer of a 1.5kw solar unit out here. We worked with the leaders on site to determine where the unit would be most efficient and decided that it would power the heart of the camp; the kitchen. It will be able to power everything they need, which will feed the thousands of campers and visitors every day.
Now that the trailer is on site, we would like to leave it here for the long haul and eventually gift it to the tribe.
That's where you come in.
Many of you have been watching the #NoDAPL movement and are wondering how you can help. And what better way to help Mother Earth than getting off of fossil fuels and on to renewable energy. A solar unit costs a lot of money to create and this particular one runs around $25,000 with labor. We are donating our labor cost and time and are now seeking the funds the cover the costs of all supplies.
We thank you for your time and hope that you will be able to help bring solar Power to the People.
