I'm Kate Ginsberg, Miguel's ex-wife and Tiago's mom. On Jan 19, 2026 Wendy, Miguel's wife, called to let us know that he was diagnosed with cancer and to ask for guidance, given our (regrettably extensive) experience with cancer (Mike, my husband and 7x Hodgkin's Lymphoma and 1x skin cancer survivor). We know they are in for a long journey towards remission and cure, one which will be stressful and expensive. Please help us in making sure there isn't additional struggle as they navigate this process. In Miguel's words:

Hello world. This is the fight.

A few days after the San Antonio Marathon (Dec 7, 2025), I noticed something was off. Weeks later—ultrasound, bloodwork, CT scan—and the words hit:

Stage 2 Testicular Cancer.

Here’s the truth: cancer picked the wrong guy.

I’m grateful for fast action, an incredible medical team, and a circle that showed up big. Because of that, we’re moving forward—head down, heart forward.

Next up: chemo.

After that: an Ironman I fully intend to crush.

This is bigger than me. If this post pushes one person to get checked early, it’s worth it. This disease moves fast—so do we.

Save your nuts, boys. Get checked.
