After months of doctor appointments, testing, and uncertainty, Matt Podesla was diagnosed with a small B-cell lymphoma that first presented as a tumor at the base of his skull. Additional testing has shown that the lymphoma has spread to multiple areas of his body. Doctors have recommended approximately seven months of chemotherapy.

As many of you know, Matt is a musician whose career depends on traveling and performing. Treatment will significantly impact his ability to work, as chemotherapy is expected to cause profound fatigue and weaken his immune system, making travel and performing much more difficult throughout his treatment.

In addition to the emotional and physical challenges of this diagnosis, Matt is facing significant financial uncertainty. Because he is self-employed, he does not have employer-sponsored health insurance. He has already undergone extensive testing, imaging, biopsies, surgery, and hospital visits, and there are ongoing concerns about insurance coverage and the substantial medical expenses that come with cancer treatment. The financial burden continues to grow at a time when his ability to earn an income will be greatly reduced.
