As many are aware, the Michigan Supreme Court decision on October 2, 2020, invalidated any Executive Orders which had been issued on or after since April 30, 2020 by Governor Gretchen Whitmer. Notwithstanding the Supreme Court’s ruling, the Governor has since attempted to continue her restrictions through an overreach of orders from her administrative agencies. One such agency is the MDHHS. Director Gordon, with the MDHHS, issued an amended Emergency Order on October 9, 2020, relative to capacity limitations, contact tracing and facial coverings.
Many agencies, law enforcement officials and lawyers have been very vocal since Director Gordon’s order was issued, speaking out against the MDHHS and deeming them as unlawful as they go beyond the authority issued by the statute. In Michigan, however, the only entity which is able to deem this order as unlawful is a court of law. With that said, the state agencies will ultimately enforce this order until a court has an opportunity to strike down its legality and constitutionality.
Our friends have accepted the challenge of setting the proper precedence moving forward. After receiving a C&D (cease & desist) notice on Friday, October 16; Dr. Kirk and Amanda have retained one of the best lawyers out there (David Kallman, Karl the Barber’s attorney) to challenge these unlawful orders.
There’s an old quote in regards to times of uncertainty, which encourages people to “look for the helpers. You will always find people who are helping.”
Kirk and Amanda exemplify that; they are selfless, genuine helpers who have always “shown up”, ready to help friends and family in need – no questions asked. It’s our turn to repay these outstanding pillars of health in their community, and amazing parents / friends / family members. If able, we would love to have you join us in alleviating some of the stress during this time with a monetary donation to help offset legal and court fees.
Please join me in lifting them up in prayer, as well. We appreciate and admire their strong convictions, and are faithfully standing by to support the road they have ahead and the positive impact it will have for all of us, and our loved ones.
