Read about Mr. Mike and donate if you can so that we can show him how much our neighborhood cares about him!!!!
Mike was born and raised in South Louisiana, one of his proudest achievements was his time in the service. Mike would entertain many with stories about his time serving in Vietnam, and his last two years as a helicopter pilot. He loves our country deeply and felt that joining the military service was his called duty as an American.
After Vietnam, he came back home and worked as a mechanic, then moved to Shreveport in 1988 and worked on his uncle’s cattle ranch. Mike then spent the next 30 years in construction. Mike met his sweet wife, Betty, who was his neighbor, and they fell in love and were married. They have a Boston terrier, Mr. Charlie, who keeps them on their toes!
In October of 2020, Mike began working at Provenance as a temporary agent. His first day of work was on his birthday, and he was so happy to be at Provenance. Many always remembered Mike’s first day on the job because they would celebrate his work anniversary and birthday every year. This October, Mike would have worked for Provenance for 5 years.
Mike loved this community. He loved the people, the pets, driving around in the golf cart making sure the neighborhood looked clean and neat for residents and visitors. He loved working at events and staying late to help clean up and make sure everything was pristine for the next day. He took great pride in his job and this community. He loved to stop and talk to neighbors, pet his favorite dogs who always looked forward to seeing him, and dream about a day that he and Betty could move into one of the cottages.
Recently, Mike has had health troubles, but he hated to be away from his responsibilities for long. He would push himself to make sure the neighborhood was being maintained.
Mike loves to work. He’s a from a dying breed that values hard work and loyalty over all. If you ask him, he’ll be working forever.
