Stacey's Homecoming Fund

Donation protected
After 25 years of incarceration starting when he was only 17 years old, Stacey Manning is finally coming home! Stacey’s family and community, especially his mother Ms. Marie Scott, eagerly await his return. We (Miriam, Shawn, and Coleman) have had the honor of working with Stacey through the Parole Advocacy Project with Lisa Napoli and Appellate Advocates.

Thoughtful, kind, and driven, Mr. Manning has spent the better part of 25 years developing an unshakeable belief in the capacity of people to communicate and do good. He has pursued personal growth through extensive facility programming and various educational opportunities. After dropping out of school in 11th grade, Mr. Manning received his GED in 2006 and worked as a clerk in the law library from 2009 to 2011, where he channeled his passion for mentorship into helping other inmates engage in legal research and draft briefs and motions. He is excited to apply the technical skills that he acquired while participating in welding, plumbing, carpentry, HVAC, and custodial maintenance programs toward finding a job upon his release. More than anything, Stacey wants to be a positive force in the world around him. Stacey is deeply committed to his family. He hopes to “use his experience as a tool” to help young people in his community avoid making the mistakes he made in his youth. Stacey has consistently told us he is especially looking forward to connecting with his younger cousins and helping provide them with opportunities to play sports and engage in other childhood activities that he couldn’t experience himself. Stacey also looks forward to supporting his mother who, throughout her own ailing health, was a rock for him throughout his 20+ years inside.

Stacey’s optimistic and disciplined approach to reentry speaks to the strength and optimism he embodies. Stacey was incarcerated as a youthful offender, and as a result, he missed out on many of the things we take for granted about adulthood. He has never signed a lease for an apartment. He has not had a job outside of prison. He does not have a driver’s license. The world has changed a lot since Stacey was incarcerated, but Stacey is eager to experience the things that he missed out on. Stacey will lean on his family, friends, and reentry organizations to navigate this new opportunity for growth. It is with great joy that we announce Stacey’s homecoming, and we hope that you can help us welcome Stacey home by contributing to this fund.
