Spraychalk Six Fines Fundraiser
Donation protected
6 Extinction Rebellion activists were arrested in their houses for chalk spraying a bridge near Woodside in August. State Security had a search warrant for their houses and escorted them to their local police stations. Not only was this a huge overreach but also an intimidation tactic. These rebels spray chalked the footbridge, assuming it was perfectly legal due to Police not reacting to it at previous protests. This lead to the raids and arrests being even more of a shock - particularly to those who have never risked getting arrested in the past.
The #SpraychalkSix faced court today (Tuesday 27th September) and 4 rebels plead guilty, and two plead not guilty.
They face restitution fines of $7000, court fees, legal fees of at least $3300 and likely more for when the two not guilty rebels go to trial.
If surplus funds are raised, the extra money will be put towards future fines.
