Sponsored Walk: Holsworthy - Okehampton Library

I'm Mary, I work at Holsworthy library and (with my brother for company) I'm planning to walk the 20 miles from Holsworthy Library to Okehampton Library in order to raise money for Libraries Unlimited - the charity responsible for running Devon Libraries and Torbay Libraries.

I love walking but, this is a bit further that I usually venture so, I will definitely be challenging myself! I'm going to take a copy of a local history book about Holsworthy with me and donate it to Okehampton library at the end of my walk.

I see first hand the vital role that libraries play in the community and the difference they make to people lives.  Libraries are a welcoming, inclusive space  for all - from toddlers coming along to listen to songs and stories to adults accessing computers and IT support. As well as loads of fantastic books we offer a range of digital services, events, clubs and much more.

Money raised will help Libraries Unlimited to  continue delivering life changing library services. For example; £10 could buy and prepare a children’s book ready to find in your library. £15 could buy and prepare a large print book for the partially sighted, £100 could help pay for monthly heating and lighting costs for a smaller community library. All contributions, of what ever size, will make a difference and be very much appreciated.

The walk is planned for Friday 28th February.
