Since 2009 the Memorials constructed by the Team have all been as a result of the Volunteers being able to travel and meet the Public to raise it's funds. In 2015 we launced the new Hangar 42 Community Museum Project, again self funding, with over £60,000 being raised by Volunteers to restore and develop Hangar 42 at Blackpool Airport.
In 2020 our plans were to further develop our educational and Community offering, with a view to opening up Hangar 42 more frequently, with our aim to increase footfall to help pay for the ongoing improvements.
In addition to the entry fee's to Hangar 42, a team of volunteers also travel the length of the UK to help raise additional funds for operational costs, as well as exhibit improvements and new WW2 RAF restoration projects for Volunteers from all backgrounds to get involved in.
With only 9 Public Open Days each year, with April, May and Possible June being cancelled we will struggle to meet our operational costs in 2020. Social distancing rules may mean it will be impossible for us to open on the first Sunday of the month for the rest of Summer 2020?
As people know our Public events of all sizes are being cancelled across the UK, further reducing our ability to travel and raise funds.
So we are now asking for your financial support to help keep this unique facility in Blackpool open, helping us to develop our educational plans during lock down to ensure we are able to open in 2021.
We have always been very keen as a team of volunteers to work hard for our cause and give the Public something back for their financial support since 2009. In the year that the Country remembers the 75th & 80th anniversaries of VE DAY and the Battle of Britain, we hope that with everything going on and so many requests for financial support being called for from the Public, that this small Blackpool based Museum can gain enough support to help us through this uncertain and challenging period.
