This is a SOS from the Curtin to help see us through this very dark time.
Never imagined I would have to write this, but The John Curtin hotel is now closed. For how long, well that's anyone's guess.
It's extremely upsetting and stressful.
I intend to keep the landlord and the creditors happy for as long as I possibly can so that our staff and you have somewhere to come back to after this heaping pile of sh*t is done with.
I am mostly upset and scared for our amazing staff, who in the matter of 1 week now no longer have a job or in some cases a means to pay rent. We have managed to put the permanent staff members on JobKeeper and keep the kitchen staff busy by running the kitchen, however, as much as we're happy to keep motivated and useful, running Sonny's for takeaway and delivery does not pay the huge rent. This $30,000 will contribute towards the rent shortfall for 3 months.
I NEVER wanted to do this, as we have never asked for any help with the cost of running business - but you just can't plan for this sort of thing to happen. I know everyone is gonna be doing it tough but anything you can spare will help us make it through the 6 months and come out the end.
Another big way you can help is to continue to purchase food from our kitchen, Sonnys Fried Chicken & Burgers. They will be available via UberEats (What a bunch of Cee U Next Tuesday's) and Doordash.
