Covid-19 has had a tremendous economic impact throughout the country and the world. For many families in the César Chávez community the situation is no different. Families are facing lost income and are struggling to pay bills, find childcare, and obtain essential needs. Many children in our community are now suffering food insecurity and families can’t afford items such as diapers and medicine.

Before Covid-19 the amazing Food Pantry run by Latino Network was serving 40+ families per week, currently it is serving 150+.  As this pandemic continues resources continue to run thin everywhere. And although our teachers and staff at César Chávez work tirelessly to help all those in our community, there is always ways we can support our families more.

César Chávez school is a beautifully diverse community with many immigrant and refugee families who cannot access government aid funding to help them through this difficult time. 100% of funds from this campaign will go to provide the means for César Chávez students and families to purchase basic needs like food, diapers and medicine.

My name is Tahni Holt, I am a parent with one child at César Chávez and a regular volunteer at the school before the pandemic. The teachers and staff have identified the families with the most need for all funds collected. We will work together to ensure that these families receive these funds directly.

Covid-19 ha tenido un impacto económico tremendo en todo el país y el mundo. Para muchas familias de la comunidad de César Chávez la situación no es diferente. Las familias enfrentan la pérdida de ingresos y luchan por pagar las facturas, encontrar cuidado de niños y satisfacer las necesidades esenciales. Muchos niños en nuestra comunidad ahora sufren inseguridad alimentaria y las familias no pueden pagar artículos como pañales y medicamentos.

Antes de Covid-19, la increíble despensa de alimentos dirigida por Latino Network atendía a más de 40 familias por semana, actualmente atiende a más de 150. Mientras esta pandemia continúa, los recursos continúan disminuyendo en todas partes. Y aunque nuestros maestros y el personal de César Chávez trabajan incansablemente para ayudar a todos los miembros de nuestra comunidad, siempre hay formas en que podemos apoyar más a nuestras familias.

La escuela César Chávez es una comunidad hermosamente diversa con muchas familias inmigrantes y refugiadas que no pueden acceder a fondos de ayuda del gobierno para ayudarlos en este momento difícil.
