Solidarity Sports Christmas Appeal

My name is Sue Duggins, I have been a volunteer with Solidarity Sports for almost a year. I am launching this appeal with a prior Lockdown Solidarity Sports volunteer, Leearna Oliffe.
Solidarity Sports is a registered charity, founded 12 years ago. They support children who have experienced trauma, including families traumatised by the fire at Grenfell Tower, in North Kensington. They also support families impacted by chronic deprivation. The children worked with range in age from 5 to 13yrs old.
On a usual basis, Solidarity Sports promote health and wellbeing in children, taking children out on weekends and on a daily basis during school holidays, to undertake various physical games and activities, and they also take children away on trips. However, due to the restrictions imposed on everyone's lives during this current pandemic, they have had to adapt the way in which they work with their children and families, setting up a massive volunteer mentoring programme, where each child registered with them, had a mentor assigned who would contact them regularly to ensure their physical and mental well-being. During this period the number of children they have worked with has increased due to the hardships being suffered universally.

This appeal is to raise enough funds to purchase a NEW age appropriate book and LEGO/DUPLO set for each child registered for Christmas, something that the charity themselves unfortunately do not have the funding to do.
We really hope that you will take time to look at their website and see all the fantastic work they do, including having set up a legacy project in the name of one of the families who died in the Grenfell fire, who's children were part of Solidarity Sports. Having volunteered now for over a year, we really hope that you will want to help provide a much needed gift for them for Christmas and will give generously.
