Every Little Bit Makes A Difference

I wanted to do this campaign as $1 can make a difference but apparently the minimum donation is $5. I am raising money to collect items for the homeless. I had been struggling for months to find something meaningful to do in with my spare time. I was feeling like I needed to do something for those who are less fortunate. I don’t have much money to spare but I have plenty of time. My friends Barbara O’Connor Smith and Coreen St Jean put a shout out on facebook on a bitter cold Saturday for blankets and warm clothes. They were heading to Providence to hand out some care packs and whatever else they could collect. They had a van full of warm clothes, blankets, and some toiletries in a matter of hours. Coreen, an activities director at Riverview Healthcare Community, had already started putting together care packs for the homeless with the men’s group at Riverview and Barbara has thought about starting a non-profit for years. They didn’t find anyone on the streets that day and brought the items to a shelter. They decided they weren’t going to stop there and put a shout out on facebook to see who else would be interested in helping on a regular basis. I jumped at the opportunity. We started collecting items. I started a sock and underwear drive and I rediscovered used clothing shopping. I can buy shoes, shirts, jeans and coats at Salvation Army on Saturdays for 99 cents. So, your donation of $5 can buy 5 items of clothing, or 5 pairs of shoes, 5 pairs of women's socks, 5 pairs of women's underwear, or 5 toiletry items. 5 pairs of underwear = 5 people happy. 5 tubes of toothpaste= 5 happy people. Every little bit makes a difference but I can't do it alone. I need your help. Please consider a donation and thank you for your time.
