We recognize that there are opportunists who take advantage of this situation. Those who are not protesters, but want to incite riots and cause destruction. Due to this, a lot of small businesses across the Chicago area have been broken into, damaged, and robbed. Small businesses owned by BIPOC already have a difficult time starting new ventures, and the system often works against them.
With the culmination of COVID-19 and these riots, rebuilding small businesses is a very difficult and costly task. Many owners may feel the need to give up, but we want to let them know there is hope. We want to give back to those who are in need. This GoFundMe page is for small businesses who have been affected by the rioters across the Chicago-land area.
Please reach out to [email redacted] if there any small businesses in mind that donations can be directed to. If you are a small business owner please email [email redacted] to let us know how we can help. The money will be dispersed equally to all the businesses involved.
For transparency: I am a person of color who lives in the North side of Chicago. My heart hurts for our city, but also for those who have been unheard for far too long. These donations will be going to small businesses that are BIPOC owned. This is not to take away from the cause, but further support it.
